I'd like to ask a question, if you don't mind: in your work Venetian Memories, there is many lightened areas; how do you aplly lighten colors over darker ones without smudge?

I'm initiating in oil painting (by myself), and I found a little bit difficult aplly light-over-dark, because it smudge. What should I do? Wait a week or more to get some consistency and then apply the lighter colors? Thank you amd best regards.

If you do not want the colour underneath to blend wait for it to dry. The background of this painting was done wet in wet to get that soft, smudgy feel and the rest was done in layers ( each layer dried before starting the next) Hope that makes sense.
