Suspicious - Oil Painting

There are many portraits of cats , as let's face it they make such good subjects to paint.
But this one stands out on it's own, because firstly it's been so beautifully painted with such attention to detail such as the little cobwebs, the rusty bolts and hinge, the superb wire fencing which must have taking you and age to do, secondly the perspective is spot on in every respect, thirdly the colours not only compliment but are echoed throughout the painting, the colours of the door are echoed in the shadows of the cat and in his eyes, the colours of the fur are echoed in the fence and as an added extra clever touch a little bit of the cat's fur is snagged there on the cobweb, curling upwards to draw your eye towards the cat.

All these points make this painting stand apart from other cat portraits I have seen, but the main reason I find this so superb is because it tells a story, it makes you wonder what the cat is doing there on top of this door, is there a dog below, has he spotted a bird down there, we don't know but something has caught his interest, this is why this painting stands apart and hits you right between the eyes.
