5 x 7 inch watercolour

Macaque monkey swinging from the tail of another monkey. Very mischievous lot, they would pinch your sunglasses from your face.

Prang Sam Yot temple , LopBuri - Thailand where there are hundreds, they are difinitely a tourist attraction.

Once a year they have a "Buffet Monkey Festival" just for them.[link]

I painted 4 versions

I remember someone saying the monkeys are a bit viscous and will rob you with menaces if they want something!Great set of pictures.

Some monkeys can be viscous, in Malaysia we were in a cave like Temple and it was a bit intimidating with the number of monkeys there, and we were warned to be wary of them. At least in Thailand it was more open but they were a different type, just mischievous. I did get a lot of shots around the ruins. They are a bit alien looking with their point ears. They don't have the cute face of a chimpanzee :iconmonkeysplz:

sounds like it, but I have soooooo many places I still want to see, and life (and money) is running out, so I have to really analyse where I want to go next. Any suggestions, I am thinking of Paris (the galleries/architecture, Mont St Michel monastery) or Russia (Hermitage/architecture/culture) or Eygpt (culture/amazing history)or India ( culture, ornate art/jewellery, taj mahal)

I love seeing the real art work, so different to prints, Australia is so limited to good original European work, we have touring exhibitions in the cities which I go to, just to see the surface and true colour

If you want original European art, the US as they bought it all!! Btu seriously stick a pin in any of those chooses all are good, bit if I was going ot France again, I'd not go ot Paris they are rude. They have champagne at the moment in the Metro trying to make them polite.
Go to the south, every where I looked was a painting in real life, really beautiful and southerns are friendly.

thanks for that info, especially Paris, but I would love to go to the galleries there, I have been warned about the rudeness, I can put up with that just for the art. I did 4 years of French at school so I could brush up on that before I went. The south sounds lovely, but is it all landscape as I look for subject matter to paint and I dont do a lot of landscape work. ( more people, animals, interesting street scapes) But it could inspire me to paint some landscapes.

The southern towns are old and lovely, everywhere I turned seemed a picture. I'd look down a alley way and it was so quintessentially french and appealing. And that was just a rundown ally! And there is a lot of art to see outside Paris.
That said Paris is beautiful, but the boulevards are long and your feet really feel the pain after a while.:)
And the food is cheap but very good! As is the wine:)
